Coty Perfume – A Brief History

Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Celine Dion, are big names in the entertainment industry, and if something these big names have in common is that they all turn to Coty when it comes to smell good. Coty has been in the perfume industry for many years now in fact, has more than a century worth of experience under his belt. Today is dubbed as the leading manufacturer of fragrances for men and women who are mass-produced and marketed worldwide.

Over the years, Coty has certainly undergone many significant changes both in ownership and management. Needless to say, all these have been analyzed in detail and for the company, as it is still as great as it always has been. However, this success story is not without its humble origins yet.

Born Marie François Joseph Spoturno, François actually chose to take the name of Coty for his own name because it sounded more like French and him. Coty's name was actually an amendment to the maiden name of his mother. Coty started his passion by selling simple essences derived from flowers located around Grasse. Once these essences were captured, Coty then took these and sold them off to the barbers of Paris. However, it was their ability marketing that really paved the way for the success of Coty in the world market. He was also quick to realize that the bottle was packaged in its perfume influenced the marketing of their products. It was because of this, which had its perfume bottles designed by René Lalique, one of the great potters of his time.

It was in 1904 when Francois Coty developed his first fragrance, which was La Rosa Jacqueminot. 1905 saw the release of L'Origan. But it was Chypre in 1917 that is considered one of the biggest hits in the career of Coty.

Other products in its line of products include imprevu, Styx, wild musk, Sweet Earth, and Stetson. To this day, Coty products remain a strong favorite among many men and women around the world and light up our screens celebrities silver.
